Multiple preserves to close for pavement assessment project starting July 6
Preserve closures will be required in the coming days as part of the Forest Preserve District’s comprehensive asphalt assessment program.
More than 700,000 square yards of trails, parking lots and roadways will be assessed by Engineering and Research International Inc. Work is scheduled from Monday, July 6, through Monday, July 13, and could extend several days longer depending on weather and other factors.
The locations listed below are scheduled for pavement analysis. Preserve access areas will be closed and will reopen once analysis is completed at each location. Some areas may remain closed longer than expected if work takes more time on a particular day.
The schedule could change as the work begins; updates will be posted here as necessary.
Regional trails will remain open during the assessment, but trail users are urged to use caution around the specialized imaging truck that will be analyzing pavement. The truck will be marked with the Engineering and Research International Inc. logo and will use flashing lights to alert trail users. A golf cart and car also may be used for some harder-to-reach areas.
