Hazardous DuPage River conditions

The recent heavy rainfall has caused the DuPage River to rise significantly, creating fast-moving, hazardous water conditions throughout Will County. On Friday and Saturday, emergency responders have been called to assist tubers and kayakers caught in the swift current at Hammel Woods and in Naperville.

Even if the weather appears calm, the river remains dangerous due to strong currents, changing water levels, and hidden debris.

Please avoid tubing, kayaking, canoeing, or entering the river until water levels recede and conditions improve. If you see someone in distress on the water, call 911 immediately. Do not attempt a rescue yourself unless you have the proper training and equipment
