Independence Day holiday closures announced

Most Forest Preserve District visitor centers will close at noon on Thursday, July 3, and remain closed Friday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

The visitor centers closing early Thursday and remaining closed Friday are: Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon, Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Bolingbrook, Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville, Plum Creek Nature Center in Crete Township and Sugar Creek Administration Center in Joliet.

Monee Reservoir Visitor Center in Monee Township will remain open until 7 p.m. Thursday and will be closed Friday.

The Tackle Box bait shop at Hidden Lakes Trout Farm in Bolingbrook will be open until 4 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

All preserves, trails and dog parks will remain open on the holiday weekend.

Half-price dog park permits go on sale July 1

Half-price dog park permits will be available for purchase starting July 1 online and at Sugar Creek Administration Center in Joliet. The permits can be used at all six Forest Preserve dog parks through the end of 2025.
