The Forest Preserve is hosting its annual Adult Fishing Derby at Hidden Lakes Trout Farm. We invite you to find the best spot along the shore and try your luck at catching fish. Prizes totaling hundreds of dollars will be awarded for the biggest catch, with prizes awarded for first, second and third place from each session.
Pack a meal and bring your favorite fishing pole. We will provide one container of nightcrawlers. Sign up for one derby or both sessions. Winners will be announced as soon as results are tallied. The first 25 registrants will receive a free giveaway.
Two sessions will be offered:
- Session 1: 7-9 a.m.
- Session 2: 10 a.m.-noon
Fish stocking at Hidden Lakes Trout Farm is supported by The Nature Foundation of Will County with funding provided by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund.
Event requirements
Registration required: 815-722-4121. Registration will be available the day of the derby if openings remain.
Hidden Lakes Trout Farm has paved accessible trails leaving from the parking lot. The shoreline fishing area is on natural surfaces over uneven terrain. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should mention their request when registering or submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
