Forest Preserve Police search for missing man at Rock Run Rookery in Joliet
Forest Preserve District of Will County Police are seeking the public’s help locating a missing person with special needs.
Leo Hara, a 31-year-old Joliet resident, was last seen today at 12:10 p.m. at Rock Run Rookery Preserve in Joliet. Hara is a male Asian, 5-foot-2-inches tall and was last seen by Cornerstone Services staff while visiting the preserve. He was wearing a brown shirt and khaki pants.
Anyone with information regarding Hara’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Forest Preserve Police Department at 815-727-6191, option 9, or email [email protected]. Any information may be helpful in locating Hara and ensuring his safe return.
A reverse 911 call has gone out to residents who live in a 2-mile radius of the Rock Run Rookery area, and Forest Preserve police are working with Will County Sheriff’s Police to search the preserve. Also assisting are Channahon Police search and rescue, a K-9 unit and the Will County Emergency Management Agency.
The Joliet Fire Department has boats on the lake and divers have searched the water, the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department has a helicopter searching the site, and the Forest Preserve District is using a drone. Illinois and Wisconsin search and rescue teams are arriving at the site for a ground search.
Rock Run Rookery Preserve is located on Youngs Road, south of Route 6/Eames Street.
