News you can use
Hidden Oaks Nature Center is getting a major makeover. Extensive renovations and improvements will require the nature center to be closed for much of 2024 starting Feb. 19. The preserve will close periodically for some outdoor renovation work, as needed. The projects will not affect Hidden Lakes Trout Farm.
Hidden Oaks Nature Center offers visitors a place to learn about the natural environment around them, with hands-on exhibits, live reptiles and interactive play elements. Offerings and amenities include:
- Public programs
- Youth group programs
- Nature playscape
- Gift shop
- Workshops and private event rentals
- Nature-themed rental packages
- Community events and exhibitions
- Free district publications and trail maps
While groups of 25 or more are welcome and encouraged to visit the nature center and preserve facilities, they are required to get a special use permit in advance to avoid crowding or scheduling conflicts. Please contact the nature center at 815-722-4121 for more information.
