Sugar Creek to close for Oct. 12 holiday
In observance of the Indigenous Peoples' Day/Columbus Day holiday, Sugar Creek Administration Center in Joliet will be closed on Monday, Oct. 12.
Forest preserves, trails and dog parks will be open during their regular hours on the holiday.
The administration center will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 13, for normal hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
All other Forest Preserve visitor centers are normally closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon, Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Bolingbrook, Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville and Plum Creek Nature Center in Crete Township are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday.
The District's two bait shops also are closed on Mondays. They will be open Tuesday through Sunday for the remainder of October from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Monee Reservoir Visitor Center in Monee Township and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for The Tackle Box at Hidden Lakes Trout Farm in Bolingbrook. The bait shops close for the season on Nov. 1 when boat launches also close.
