Kahler Road closure will require Forsythe Woods visitors to detour

Kahler Road will be closed just west of the entrance to Forked Creek Preserve – Forsythe Woods starting May 26 for approximately three weeks, the City of Wilmington announced recently.

The closure between Wildcat Court and Butcher Lane is needed to improve the “drivability” of Kahler Road while also “preserving and extending the lifespan of the bridge” over Forked Creek, the city said in a post on its Facebook page.

Forsythe Woods will remain open during the road closure. But visitors coming from the west will have to detour east to Indian Trail Road to then be able to head west on Kahler to the preserve entrance.

Signs are being posted at the site to alert motorists to the upcoming closure.
