The 60-acre Joliet Junction Trail was acquired between 2000 and 2002.
Prior to the District’s acquisition of the land, it was an abandoned railroad.

Trail location and access
The Joliet Junction Trail travels 4.36 miles from Crest Hill south through Joliet.
The trail may be accessed from the following locations:
- Theodore Marsh (Gaylord Road, Crest Hill)
- Joyce Road/Walmart parking lot, Joliet (View on a Google Map)
Trail experience and activities
The Joliet Junction Trail is a flat, paved linear trail and travels 4.36 miles through residential areas. It is ideal for the following activities:
- In-line skating
- Cross-country skiing
Together, the Joliet Junction Trail, Rock Run Greenway Trail and I&M Canal State Trail provide a 16-mile mostly paved loop trail.
