The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Preserve History

The 205-acre Walnut Hollow was acquired between 1973 and 1992.

The preserve is part of the Spring Creek preservation system, which conserves more than 1,900 acres.

Natural Resources

Walnut Hollow protects a diversity of habitats, including forest, savanna, wetland and a portion of Spring Creek.

The preserve is home to a variety of plant species, including turtlehead, downy wafer ash and red pine.

Walnut Hollow is located north of Route 6/Maple Road and east and west of Briggs Street in Joliet Township.
