The 43-acre Hunters Woods was acquired between 1973 and 1975.
The preserve is part of the Hickory Creek preservation system, which conserves more than 2,000 acres.

Natural Resources
Hunters Woods protects forest and wetland habitat.
Wildlife found at the preserve includes bird species such as the northern parula warbler.
The preserve is also home to a variety of plant species, including toad trillium and false rue anemone.
The site is managed with invasive species control and prescribed burning to protect and enhance its natural resources.
