Tuesday's storm causes preserve, trail closures
Damage from Tuesday's storm has caused preserve and trail closures.
Here are the current closures, but more may be reported as damaged is assessed:
- Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve in Crete Township is closed due to trees being knocked down on the entrance road.
- Messenger Woods Preserve in Homer Glen is closed due to a tree blocking the entrance.
- Old Plank Road Trail is closed from Washington Street to Gougar Road due to trees blocking the path and a power line down at Washington Street and Pembroke Avenue. Also, there are smaller branches and debris on the trail from Gougar to Wolf Road. And a large branch behind Providence High School is blocking the trail.
- The Sauk Trail Reservoir west entrance and trail is blocked by tree limbs and debris. Another branch to the east on the trail is passable.
Preserve visitors are urged to use caution in the wake of the storm as other areas may have damage that has not been reported yet.
