Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve to close 

Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve in Lockport Township is scheduled to be closed from Monday, June 29, through Wednesday, July 1.

The closure is required for barricades to be installed to prevent vehicles from traveling deeper into the preserve, where they could crush wildlife crossing Division Street, which bisects the preserve. 

Once the work is completed, the preserve will reopen during normal hours, from 8 a.m. to sunset. Parking will be allowed along the gravel shoulders west of the barricades and east of Illinois 53, and visitors will be allowed to pass the barricades on foot.
