Thank you for choosing the Forest Preserve District of Will County to host your next event. Events hosted by an outside group or organization on Forest Preserve property require a permit. Events include but are not limited to fundraisers, races, rallies, organized walk/runs, animal adoption events and bike rides.

Criteria that may qualify the function or activity as an event include but are not limited to the following:

  • The function will exceed regular picnic shelter capacity.
  • A request for additional amenities outside of those regularly approved for picnic shelters.
  • The activity is open to the public. 
  • This event is a fundraiser.
  • On-site sales will take place.
  • Outside vendors are present.

To submit your request, complete an application.

Applications are accepted beginning Oct. 1 of the year prior to the event. Applications must be submitted no less than 14 days prior to the requested event date. Submitting the application does not guarantee the approval of your event or the date and location for your event. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted regarding the approval of your event. Approved events will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment will be due upon processing.

Fees

Event fee: $200

The following fees may be added to the event fee if applicable. Fees are subject to change.

  • Picnic shelter: Applicable picnic shelter fees apply; varies depending on shelter.
  • Police services $50 per hour.
  • Maintenance services: $50 per hour.

Youth sports events

Youth sports event permits are issued to organizations and schools wishing to conduct an organized sports activity or event on Forest Preserve property. Whether it is a practice, game, meet or invitational, the school will only be permitted to use the property once the proper permit is obtained.

To obtain a permit, an application should be completed and sent to [email protected].

If you require the use of a picnic shelter or parking lot on weekends, you must pay the permitting fee for that location.
