District Moves Forward on Construction Projects
Work will begin at Hammel Woods and area trails and parking lots this fall.
The 77-acre Veterans Woods was acquired in 1966.
The preserve is part of the Des Plaines River preservation system, which conserves more than 2,400 acres.
Roy F. Hassert Grove is one of two access areas to the preserve. The other access area is Traders Corner in Romeoville.

The preserve is home to a variety of plant species, including the yellow trout lily and oaks.

Roy F. Hassert Grove features 0.46 mile of natural surface trail, ideal for the following activities:
