The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

If you feel summer is speeding by, tap the brakes and spend some time at the last round of "Food Truck Fridays" in August.

Food trucks will be selling tasty grub from 5-7:30 p.m. on a rotating basis at four preserves.

Here are August’s food truck dates and locations so you can enjoy an easy – and often cheesy – night out:

AUGUST 2, HAMMEL WOODS – ROUTE 59 ACCESS

AUGUST 9, HICKORY CREEK PRESERVE – LAPORTE ROAD ACCESS

AUGUST 16, WHALON LAKE

AUGUST 23, MESSENGER MARSH

In addition to yummy and convenient food, enjoy the trails and activities. Plus, it’s hard to beat the view. Forest Preserve staff will be on-site with preserve information and items for checkout – binoculars, field guides and bags – to get you out exploring the preserve and exercising.

Registration is not required.
