The Wauponsee Glacial Trail is set to remain open during a Gougar Road improvement project, but trail users should use caution while crossing the street.
According to the contractor hired to perform the roadwork, there will be a "aggregate path in temporary passable condition for the duration of the project."
The contractor also noted: "During activities where our work will block the path for a short time (paving for example), we will direct trail users around any hazards."
The Village of Manhattan is relocating the Gougar Road/Route 52 intersection, and the project could take up to three months to complete.
"The project is to include relocating the intersection 1,000 feet south and the installation of turn lanes," according to the village's website. "When completed, the project will increase the safety at the current intersection and create two new viable commercial corners on U.S. Route 52."
The project's timeline could change due to weather and other factors. Updates will be posted here as necessary.
