Are you hungry for some food truck fun?

If so, your wait is almost over. The Forest Preserve District's first summer Fun & Food Trucks event rolls into Hickory Creek – LaPorte Road Access in Mokena from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 24. It's the first of three summertime food truck programs planned by the District.

Two more Fun & Food Trucks programs will be held on Friday, July 22, at Whalon Lake in Naperville and Friday, August 26, at Hammel Woods – Route 59 Access in Shorewood. See which trucks will be at each location below.

Recreation coordinator Jen Guest organized the food truck gatherings into three larger events this year, in contrast to past programs that were more frequent but smaller.

“I am very excited for this year’s revamping of our food truck events,” Guest said. “Fun & Food Trucks is going to be a blast! In addition to tasty food and drinks, we also have loads of family fun planned.”

Each event will have lawn games, a bounce house and entertainment. Celebrity juggler Brain Pankey is scheduled to be at the Hickory Creek and Hammel Woods programs.

“Brian was featured on Season 9 of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ and since then he has been traveling all over doing celebrity appearances on television and at events,” Guest said. “He will be interacting with the crowds at these two food truck events while juggling all kinds of fun objects.”

Musician Tom Margarites is scheduled for the program at Whalon Lake.

“He will get us in the groove with some live lakeside music,” Guest said.

In addition to entertainment, each event will feature a specialty beverage truck serving alcohol.

“All the fun and games are free, but be ready to purchase food and drinks to help support these local trucks,” Guest said.

The events also will feature a Forest Preserve District of Will County information booth, staffed with people ready to answer questions about the event and the District.

“Stop by the booth to get District maps and giveaways while supplies last,” Guest said. “We hope to see everyone out enjoying the forest preserves during these fun summer events.”
