The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Tired of cooking dinner on Friday night, especially when it's hot in the summer?

It's time to take a break. The Forest Preserve District is about to roll out your meal relief as the “Food Truck Fridays” series gets cookin’ on June 7 and runs every Friday, from 5-7:30 p.m., through August on a rotating basis at four preserves.

Here is the June food truck lineup so you can plan your early summer outings:

June 7, Hammel Woods – Route 59 Access

June 14, Hickory Creek Preserve – LaPorte Road Access

June 21, Whalon Lake

June 28, Messenger Marsh

In addition to yummy and convenient food, enjoy the trails and activities. Plus, it’s hard to beat the view. Forest Preserve staff will be on-site with preserve information, activities and items for checkout — binoculars, field guides and bags — to get you out exploring the preserve and exercising.

Registration is not required.
