What's big, furry and in need of someone to jump right into a new role?
That would be Willy the Woodchuck, the Forest Preserve District's very lovable mascot.
We like to get Willy out to as many District events and programs as possible and we're looking for some volunteers to suit up and play the role.
The ideal candidate will enjoy people and the outdoors and will surely get a big head with this role. Smiling 100 percent of the time is mandatory, but don't worry ... Willy's face is permanently frozen that way.
More volunteer opportunities
Other volunteers are also needed to assist at District events and programs. Upcoming events include “Island Rendezvous” on Saturday, June 8, at Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville; “Arts & Nature on the River” on Saturday, June 15, at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon; “Kids’ Fishing Derby” on Saturday, July 27, at Monee Reservoir in Monee Township; and “Hummingbird Festival” on Saturday, August 17, at Plum Creek Nature Center in Crete Township.
For more information on any of these opportunities, contact Renee at firstname.lastname@example.org or 815.722.7364, and ask for a volunteer application. All applications must be processed and an orientation session completed prior to serving as a volunteer.
