Event details
The days are short and the temperatures are cold, but from tiny chickadees to massive deer, our woods are still very much alive! Discover the unique adaptations of warm-blooded animals that allow them (and us!) to survive in this climate. Hike the trails of Hammel Woods in search of active animals and the evidence they leave behind.
Event requirements
Registration required by Friday, Feb. 9: 815-722-9470.
This is an inclusive program, welcoming individuals of all abilities. Dress for the weather and use caution while walking outdoors as snow and ice may be present on the paths and in parking lots.
The hike will be up to 3 miles long over paved and natural surfaces across uneven terrain. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should mention their request when registering or submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
