Soup-er Chili Hike to Whalon Lake
Date: Sunday, January 28, 2024
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Age: Ages 10 and older.
Location: Hidden Oaks Nature Center
Join a naturalist for a long hike followed by a campfire with your favorite comfort food. Put on your hiking boots, bring your favorite mug and a can of soup (non-cream only) or chili. We will have two pots on the fire — one for chili and the other for soup — to add your contribution. We’ll let them simmer over an open flame while we set out for Whalon Lake! Along the way, we’ll engage all our senses while discovering the beauty of a quiet winter evening. Once back, enjoy a piping hot mug of soup or chili warmed over the open fire.
Registration required by Saturday, Jan. 27: 815-722-4121.
This program will start at Hidden Oaks Nature Center. Given the nature of the program, we cannot adhere to any specific dietary restrictions.
The hike will be approximately 3 miles round trip on a variety of surfaces, including pavement and natural terrain with winter conditions. Please dress for the weather. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
