The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Event Details

Join Forest Preserve staff as we pedal the beautiful trails of Will County. The “Pedal the Prairie” bike series is designed to build in distance and difficulty, with separate guided rides. The Lower Rock Run ride is about 22 miles round trip to the Dresden Dam and back.

Other rides in the series are as follows:

  • September 5: This ride will travel 7.28 miles along the Hickory Creek Preserve loop from Barrens Nature Preserve to LaPorte Road Access and south to Old Plank Road Trail.
  • September 26: This ride is more than 28 miles round trip to and through Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, beginning at Sugar Creek Preserve.

Enjoy the sights and sounds at your own pace on these guided rides to each destination, and then make your way back on your own along the same routes.

Event Requirements

Registration required by Saturday, September 19: 815.727.8700.

The ride will be on a multi-surface trail. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should call 708.946.2216 or submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
