The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Event Details

The Spring Preserve Challenge runs from Saturday, May 1, through Monday, May 31, at all the Forest Preserve District's visitor centers and preserves.

Please note: Masks are required for all in-person, indoor and outdoor program participants, with the exception of those younger than 2 years old and those with a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing one, per state guidelines.

Shake off the rust and dust off your hiking boots by taking part in our first-ever monthlong, self-guided preserve challenge. Try your hand at everything from birding and nature photography to kayaking. No matter your hobbies or interests, you can complete different exercises and activities in select preserves as part of a fun challenge centered around reconnecting with nature!

Visit our Spring Preserve Challenge page to participate. Those who complete the challenge by tackling 15 or more activities will receive a Spring Preserve Challenge giveaway.
