Which city carried the nickname “City of Steel and Stone?” Joliet’s once-thriving industrial plant rivaled Pittsburgh’s steel power. Explore the stone foundations that are more than 100 years old. An interpretive naturalist will share the fascinating stories of the men and machines that worked at the Joliet Iron Works Historic Site. Just in time for Halloween, we’ll explore some of the darker sides of working at an industrial plant in the late 1800s/early 1900s.
Registration required by Thursday, October 28: 815.886.1467.
Meet by the shelter.
Paved walkways are accessible on this 1-mile tour. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should mention their request when registering, or submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
