Fossils are evidence of ancient life, and you can make your own fossil replica before hiking the preserve, learning about Illinois’ past and different types of fossils and how they form. Afterward, head indoors to view a collection of fossils that have been found locally. Any fossil replicas made before the hike will be set and ready to take home at the end of program.
Registration required by Friday, February 4: 815.722.9470.
Please dress for the weather and use caution while walking outdoors as snow and ice may be present on the paths and in parking lots. Four Rivers Environmental Education Center is an accessible facility.
The hike will be 0.5 miles to 1 mile long on paved and natural terrain across uneven surfaces. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
