Sledding

The sled hill at Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve in Beecher is open when proper conditions exist after December 1. The hill at Forked Creek Preserve — Butcher Lane Access in Wilmington is open for sledding when conditions allow.

Sledding tubes can be rented at Plum Creek Nature Center, which is located near the sled hill. Guests can also bring their own sleds, but no steel runners, snowboards or steerables are allowed. No dogs are allowed on the sled hill. For current sledding conditions at Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve, call 708-946-2216.

The sled hill at Forked Creek Preserve — Butcher Lane Access is not supervised nor monitored for snow conditions.

Inner tube rental

Inner tubes for sledding are available for rental at Plum Creek Nature Center for use on the sled hill at Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve when conditions allow after December 1. Renters must be 18 years old and bring a valid driver's license or state ID. Tubes may be limited to one tube per license/ID. Tubes are rented until 3 p.m. and must be returned to the Nature Center by 4 p.m.
