Finance Committee

Committee function

The Finance Committee of the Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners generally supervises the finances of the District by establishing policies and procedures for budget control systems, investments, annual audits, and general accounting and purchasing procedures.

This Committee also approves resolutions as to bond issues, oversees proposed budgeting and appropriation ordinances and tax levies, reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners as to line item transfers, determines insurance for District employees, and reviews land acquisition matters or funding requests. It also reviews and makes recommendations to the Board for: permit and license fee schedules; utility, building, and farm licenses; and all matters pertaining to legislation concerning the District's finances.

The Committee also prepares plans, priorities, evaluation systems, etc., dealing with future land acquisitions by the District. The Committee supervises implementation of Board approved land acquisitions and plans by establishing policies and procedures on title work, surveys, mapping, negotiations, appraisals, and grant implementation.

Committee meetings

The Finance Committee meets the first Thursday of the month (unless changed by the Committee) immediately after the Operations Committee but no sooner than 9:15 a.m.
