Willy's Waste-Free Lunch Program
On average, a school-age child with a "disposable" lunch generates 67 pounds of waste each school year (which comes from only 6 ounces of garbage per day). We challenge them to reduce that waste with Willy's Waste-Free Lunch Program! The program educates students, parents, and school staff about where garbage ends up and how we, as individuals, can reduce the amount of trash we generate. The program encourages students to bring zero-waste lunches on their field trips to Plum Creek Nature Center in Beecher (PCNC), Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville (ICM), and the Environmental Learning Center in Mokena (ELC).
