Located near the rapidly growing population areas of Bolingbrook and Romeoville, Veterans Woods is a heavily wooded forest skirting the Des Plaines River.  It was acquired in 1966 and was originally named Veterans Memorial Woods.

Veterans Woods has two access areas, Traders Corner and Roy F. Hassert Grove, and Traders Corner includes a picnic shelter that can be reserved for large groups. (A picnic shelter at Roy F. Hassert Grove will not be available for rental until mid-2010.) Natural surface trails and large open play fields are located near the picnic shelters and make Veterans Woods the perfect place for your next family get-together.
