The Spring Creek Greenway Trail is a multi-use trail comprised of crushed limestone, and is open to all non-motorized use, including equestrians.
The topography of the trail is rolling, and it passes through prairie, woodlands, and marshlands.
Access to 4.85 miles of the trail is available at three points within Hadley Valley Preserve, on Gougar Road, Bruce Road, and Route 6. The access areas at Gougar Road and Bruce Road provide picnic shelters, and the area on Gougar Road also offers parking for horse trailers.
The trail also includes 3.5 miles of loop trails within Messenger Marsh Preserve in Homer Glen, although it does not yet connect this preserve to Hadley Valley. Horse trailer parking is available. Visitors can also relax under a picnic shelter in the preserve, or stop
by the dog park to let man's best friend have some off-leash fun (permit required).
Future planning for the trail will strive to connect Hadley Valley Preserve, Messenger Marsh Preserve, and Messenger Woods Nature Preserve.
