In 2005, the District agreed to accept three separate donations totaling 129 acres of mitigated wetlands in Bolingbrook and Romeoville on the main branch of Lily Cache Creek. To date, 49 acres have been transferred to the District.
The wetlands were created, restored, or enhanced as part of ongoing industrial development in the area. These wetlands are part of Bolingbrook’s Lily Cache Greenway and Trail. Future planning will look at extending the Greenway downstream into Romeoville and Plainfield.
