The 115-acre Lake Chaminwood (Channahon/Minooka/Shorewood) was acquired between 2000 and 2006 to provide public access to fishing opportunities in the site's abandoned quarry lake, the DuPage River, and the I&M Canal.

The District is developing an access area on Shepley Road in 2011-2012, which will include a picnic shelter, canoe launch, and 0.7-mile multi-use trail. View more information about this project.
