Fall generally offers ample opportunities to find all sorts of fungus in the preserves and as cooler, wet weather moves in, be on the lookout while on the trails. View more information.

The 58-acre Birds Junction Marsh was acquired in 2001.

The preserve is part of the DuPage River preservation system, which conserves more than 1,500 acres of land.

Natural Resources

Birds Junction Marsh protects a diversity of habitats, including forest, savanna, and wetland.

Wildlife found at the preserve includes more than 70 bird species.

The preserve is also home to a variety of plant species, including the hooded violet and sickle pod.

The site is managed with invasive species control and prescribed burning to protect and enhance its natural resources. Learn more about the Districtís land management activities.

Birds Junction Marsh is located north and south of Camelot Road and west of I-55 in Shorewood.
