Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve Property Acquisition (October 2011)
Project Description:
The District acquired the Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago on October 11, 2011. This property contains 280.032 acres and has been leased by the Forest Preserve District since 1981. The acquisition of this property allows the Forest Preserve District to control and manage the preserve in perpetuity. The District currently owns property to the west of this property.
