Rock Run Rookery - Youngs Road Access (Completed June 2011)

The project is located at Rock Run Rookery, on Youngs Road south of Route 6 in Joliet.
Project Description:
The Rock Run Rookery - Youngs Road Access project consisted of the construction of a public access and recreational development at Rock Run Rookery. The development included a 100-person picnic shelter, boat launch and dock, shoreline fishing, overlooks, trail, latrine, drinking fountain, and parking areas. The development also included stormwater management, bioswales, and native plantings to complement the existing ecosystems.
This project was funded by the Forest Preserve District Capital Improvement Program and an Open Space Land Acquisition and Development Grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
This development has been completed and opened to the public on June 15, 2011.
