Hammel Woods North - DuPage River Trail
Project Location:
The project is located at Hammel Woods, north and south of Black Road on the west side of the DuPage River in Shorewood.
Project Description:
The Hammel Woods North - DuPage River Trail project consists of a 1.5-mile extension of the DuPage River Trail at Hammel Woods north to the Sunset Ridge Park and trail owned by the Plainfield Park District. The trail will be a 10-foot-wide, multi-purpose asphalt bike trail.
As part of the project, the trailhead and pathways at the Dog Park at Hammel Woods - DuPage River Access have been improved. This work resulted in the temporary closure of the Dog Park in April 2012, and no additional Dog Park closures are anticipated.
This project is funded by a Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Grant and the Forest Preserve District's Capital Improvement Program.
Construction is planned for February 2012 through December 2012.
