Veterans Memorial Trail - Centennial Trail to International Parkway
Project Description:
The Veterans Memorial Trail - Centennial Trail to International Parkway project is a multi-use trail project that will be constructed in two segments. When completed, the two segments will connect the Centennial Trail in Keepataw Preserve to an existing bike trail operated by the Village of Woodridge at International Parkway.
Segment I - Centennial Trail to Bluff Road includes 0.55-mile of trail along the I-355 corridor between the Centennial Trail in Keepataw Preserve and Bluff Road.
Segment II - Bluff Road to International Parkway includes approximately one mile of trail within the right-of-way of I-355.
The 10-foot-wide, multi-purpose trail will be paved with asphalt for non-motorized, bicycle and pedestrian use.
This project is funded by the Forest Preserve District's Capital Improvement Program, an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) grant, and a partnership with the Village of Woodridge.
Construction of Segment I is planned for September 2011 through July 2012.
Construction of Segment II is planned for the fall of 2012.
