Hickory Creek Barrens Nature Preserve Restoration
Project Location:
The project is located at Hickory Creek Barrens Nature Preserve, north of Route 30, south of Hickory Creek, and east of the Hickory Creek Bikeway, in unincorporated New Lenox.
Project Description:
The Hickory Creek Barrens Nature Preserve Restoration project will consist of selective clearing of trees and shrubs, invasive species control, prescribed burning, and native species seeding and plant installation in a 30-acre section of Hickory Creek Barrens Nature Preserve.
This project is funded by settlement funds resulting from violations of the Illinois Natural Areas Preservation Act, and the Forest Preserve District of Will County.
Work is planned for April 2011 through June 2013.
