Project Name:
Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve Improvements
Project Description:
The Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve Improvements project will include renovations to the campground, parking lots,
and internal preserve drives, as well as ADA improvements and
enhancements to circulation pathways and program areas at Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve.
The project will also include the development of the first phase of the Plum Creek Greenway Trail from 265th Street in the north to Goodenow Road in the south and will include a small parking lot on Goodenow Road. Approximately three miles of 10-foot-wide multi-use limestone screening trail will provide a six-mile experience for equestrians and bicyclists with additional natural trail loops for hiking and cross-country skiing.
For safety and access reasons, the preserve and Plum Creek Nature Center will be closed during construction, which is planned for August 1, 2011 through September 2012. Most programs will be relocated to other District preserves.
This project is being funded by the Forest Preserve District's Capital Improvement Program.
