Wauponsee Glacial Trail - Hoff Road Access Development (Completed November 2014)
The Wauponsee Glacial Trail - Hoff Road Access Development project will consist of the development of a public access area at Hoff Road on the Wauponsee Glacial Trail in Elwood.
The project is a joint partnership between the Forest Preserve District of Will County and the United States Forest Service and will service visitors of both the District's Wauponsee Glacial Trail and Forest Service's Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie.
The proposed improvements include vehicular and equestrian parking, signage, accessible picnic area, and a trail connection to the Wauponsee Glacial Trail. A latrine and small shelter are included as alternates to be added if funding is available. The District and Midewin will share in the maintenance of this site.
This project is funded by the Forest Preserve District's Capital Improvement Program and a partnership with the United States Forest Service.
Work is planned for May 2013 through 2015.
