The McKinley Woods Invasive Species Control project consists of spot weed control via backpack sprayers and boom spray herbicide applications throughout 146 acres and the broadcasting of native seed atop an 80-acre prairie unit at McKinley Woods
in Channahon during 2015.
This project continues the initial restoration of 160 acres of woodlands, flatwoods, and wet prairie at McKinley Woods that was funded in part by a Northeastern Illinois Wetlands Conservation Account grant.
Herbicide treatments will take place between March and November. Seeding will be done in the fall of 2015.
