The Forest Preserve District offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in the winter!

Ice Skating
Both Goodenow Grove and Monee Reservoir have ice skating ponds open to the public. Ice thickness is checked daily and conditions are posted below.

Sledding
Goodenow Grove offers a 40-foot high sledding hill. Visitors can bring their own plastic sleds (no runners allowed), or tubes can be rented at Plum Creek Nature Center, located within Goodenow Grove (a driver's license or state ID and $1.00/day/tube fee are required). Warm up inside the Nature Center by the fireplace and enjoy a variety of nature-related exhibits after your sledding adventure. Sled hill conditions are posted below.

Snowshoeing
Monee Reservoir provides a 2.5-mile trail for enjoying the winter landscape. Snowshoe rental is available at the Monee Reservoir concessions building. Visitors are invited to warm up by a wood-burning stove after their trek. Concessions are also available.

Cross-Country Skiing is available at Monee Reservoir, Goodenow Grove, and many other preserves.
