From May through August, herons, egrets, and cormorants build their nests and raise their young on the islands at Lake Renwick. During this time of year, preserve visitation is restricted so as not to disturb the birds. Join staff and volunteers on specially guided tours of the nesting birds as they go about their daily tasks. Discover how the birds build their nests, see the young as they grow, and learn how Lake Renwick came to be a rookery and a nature preserve. This is a unique opportunity to view the young birds as they start to leave the nests. Telescopes and binoculars are available for use.
