  Forest Preserve Hosts Photo Display
  Posted: 12/5/2011

The Forest Preserve will host award-winning nature photographs at Isle a la Cache Museum and Sugar Creek Administration Center through the month of February.

The exhibition, entitled "An Enduring Vision: Illinois Nature Preserves and Land & Water Reserves," is comprised of 22 photos. The exhibit is on display through December 28 at Isle a la Cache Museum, in Romeoville, and from January 2 through February 24 at the Sugar Creek Administration Center, in Joliet. The Environmental Law & Policy Center and the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission sponsor the exhibition.

The 22 images on display were chosen from submissions to OutdoorIllinois Magazine, published by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The magazine sponsored a photo contest in 2009, held to honor the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission's 500th protected site, the Deer Grove West Woodland and Wetland Nature Preserve in Cook County.

The winning photographs show Illinois' geographic range, biological diversity, and gorgeous places. They capture the landscape of Illinois past and present and the remarkable achievements to protect the state's high-quality natural areas and stand as an enduring legacy for the future.

One of the photos was taken at the Forest Preserve's Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve.

Isle a la Cache Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m. Sugar Creek Administration Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Isle a la Cache Museum is located at 501 E. Romeo Road (135th Street), 0.5-mile east of Route 53, in Romeoville. Sugar Creek Administration Center is located at 17540 W. Laraway Road, 0.75-mile west of Route 52, in Joliet.
