The Forest Preserve District of Will County has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its fiscal year 2010 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the highest standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to communicate clearly its financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Forest Preserve has been awarded the Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 16 consecutive years.
“We believe in openness and transparency in reporting how taxpayer funds are used,” said Cory Singer, president of the Forest Preserve Board of Commissioners, the District’s governing body. “That we have been honored by the Government Finance Officers Association for so many years demonstrates that this philosophy of open disclosure is central to the Forest Preserve’s core values as a government agency.”
